About me

I'm Intelligent, artistic, spiritual and compassionate. I've been a vegetarian for more than 35 years because of my love of animals, and find myself increasingly drawn to veganism because of cruelty I keep hearing about in the dairy industry. I love music (mostly folk/blues/rock/'50s/'60s/'70s), intelligently written books, drawing, writing poetry, cooking, history, astrology and all things mystical, some T.V., some radio, and though I can't get out as much as I wish I could, would love to go more often to the cinema, the theatre, to restaurants, art galleries and museums. I'm a country soul at heart, still living in the small village where I was born, and I love wildlife and being surrounded by nature, but can also enjoy "the big city" atmosphere from time to time. I have always enjoyed writing to penfriends around the world in the old fashioned, pen and paper, way and this technological stuff is still quite new to me, but no doubt I'll get the hang of it eventually! Would love to travel more than I've been able to in my life, and also to study more than I've ever had the opportunity to do. I'm not much of a sports fan exept for tennis, and have a severe dislike of soccer (or more precisely, of Britains seeming obsession with it). I don't enjoy pub culture or noisy night clubs, and have never felt the need to be "one of the crowd", but am very loyal to those people I consider to be true friends. I can be quite shy at times, but at the same time I know my own mind and will stand by those beliefs and values I hold dear. The truth is always important to me - even when it's painful - because, in my experience, finding out you have been lied to is far more painful than any hard truth could ever be. I try to lead my life in a manner that is respectful of other people, other animals, and the universe around me for I believe we are all connected, and whatever we put out there will eventually come back to us.

Last movie seen:Can't remember, it was so long ago. But favourite films include "To Kill a Mocking Bird", "Inherit the Wind", "A Man For all Seasons", "The Buddy Holly Story", "A Beautiful Mind" and "It's a Wonderful Life".
Music I listen to:Bob Dylan. Janis Joplin. Jimi Hendrix. Van Morrison. Celtic folk music. Too many to mention really.
Best album right now:Nothing recent. All time favourite probably Dylans "Blonde on Blonde", closely followed by "Blood on the Tracks".
Favorite author:Big fan of Jeffrey Deaver. All time favourite probably Vera Brittains "Testament of Youth". Also like Thomas Hardy and George Eliot.
Last book read:Currently reading a biography of Thomas Paine by Craig Nelson. Paine is a hero of mine.
Best game right now:Don't have one. Prefer doing cryptic crosswords and logic puzzles.
Favorite sports team:Don't have one.
I'm passionate about:Animal welfare. Refusing to buy into the current obsession with appearance and good looks. I'm perfectly happy to look the age nature intended me to look. The lines on my face are the battle scars of life and I intend to wear them with pride!
I wish I could:Bring back my sister who died in April, aged only 51.
Favorite travel destination:New Mexico. Hemsby in Norfolk where I spent many happy childhood holidays.
On my vacation I..:.....was very young! It's been years since I could afford such things.
If I won 1 million dollars, I would:Travel the world, buy my dream period cottage in open countrside miles from anywhere, buy a second home in New Mexico, help out all my favourite charities, and open my own animal rescue centre to fill with waifs and strays!
If I were a super hero I would:Save the whole world from all its troubles of course! What else are superheroes for?
Fashion I rather not see again:Cargo pants, ra ra skirts, and underwear showing above the tops of jeans!
My worst purchase ever:A dress to wear at a "friends" wedding, to which I then discovered I was not to be invited! Who needs enemies........?!
I want my coffee..:Now!
Food I like:Vegetarian.
I don't like:Football. Men who treat football like a religion. Women who like football (because it's letting the side down and only encourages the men!)
