Rainbows

One of the number of things that bothers me is the automatic association of rainbows with homosexuality. The people I've witnessed to do such a thing are, naturally, mainly "christians." Those people that are stereotypically against homosexuals. Those people that are taught at a very young age that rainbows symbolize God's promise to His children that He would never flood the whole world again. Rainbows are beautiful refractings of light into the visible spectrum and not only a symbol for homosexuals, possibly the most recent symbolic meaning rainbows have earned. Historically, rainbows have always symbolized peace. Why did hippies always have rainbows? For peace. Why do people against war use rainbows? For peace. Considering the numerous meanings of a rainbow that happened before homosexuality, why must people immediately associate a natural wonder with homosexuals?
On a completely different note, I brushed up on my MLA and apparently the guidelines have changed since I was in 9th grade (well, they're updated yearly, but still). Apparently the "new" rule is to use only one space after all punctuation, so I'm okay with Opera automatically disregarding my double spaces even though I find it easier to read with them.
