Abstract Bandwagon II

Art and Life - mostly abstract

New work just completed

, ,

This painting is in it's second life. Started out as a watercolor of flowers that I did not like at all, so gessoed over it with black gesso. This high contrast is what followed. Henge Monument, 17x15" Acrylic on W/C canvas.

Very interesting, Merle. My eyes see what looks like a blue hooded figure jumping into a pool in the top left third!

That's the problem a lot of people have with abstract images--your brain insists on trying to find something it recognizes, instead of enjoying the painting for it's colors, shapes and lines, etc. I have that same temptation sometimes. If I see something easily as I am working a painting I try to paint it out sometimes, particularly if it's something not nice or interesting.. Thanks much for your comment. smile

It's difficult to take the Rorschach test out of looking at anything! smile

Well... I didn't see the dark, hooded figure until he was pointed out to me. lol

A lot of tension in this one with the complementary colors and the very dark and very light. Very dynamic. up

Thanks Deb. smile Well, I think the hooded figure is a lot of imagination. This was fun to do--almost no brush work. Almost all done with a brayer. (Rubber roller) smile

Thanks Sami. That's exactly they way I want you to look at it--as colors, shapes and space that are pleasing to look at. bigsmile

Just stopping by again, and I thought I'd mention that I really like your banner. up

Thanks Deb, for stopping by. smile It's a small slice out of a big painting that's 22x30" in size. One of these days I may post the whole thing.
