Word of Wisdom Concerning the Lakeland Revival

Kriston Couchey

Recognize the Gift and Their function
I think it is important to recognize the gift that Todd Bentley of the Lakeland Revival is to the body. Some call him a prophet, but I don't see him as that. He is an evangelist. He calls himself an evangelist. Understanding his anointing gives us insight as to the working of the Spirit in this particular venue of outpouring.

Evangelists are not the Foundation
God is not establishing foundational truth in Lakeland at this time. He is touching people through an evangelism anointing. Skeptical prophets and apostles that are looking for something more will do well to recognize that this evangelist anointing can only go so far, and is only for a specific purpose. It is about touching and reaching people. Not building the Temple.

New Testament Example: Philip the Evangelist
Philip the evangelist had miraculous things happen in the reaching of people in Samaria (Acts 8:5). But when Peter came then the building began. Be patient, do not begrudge the ministry and outpouring to people being prepared for the apostles and prophets to come and work with.

This does not mean everything done in the name of the Lord in a revival meeting is the Lord, or should not be addressed if brought to light by the Spirit. Let the equipping of the evangelist do its work first and don't expect an evangelist to lay foundations they CANNOT LAY. There will be places of misunderstanding and teaching that is short of foundational truth because these foundations are not laid yet. We can expect leaders of any movement to walk in the light they have and no more.

Discernment is needed in the days ahead. Some will want to use this movement as a basis (foundation) for new ministry styles and teachings. But they will not be long lived if they will not receive the apostles and prophets coming as the foundation of the Temple God is building.

Jesus Example
Some scoff at other's ministries because it is not the way they would do it, or they think God should not bless those they do not agree with. When the disciples complained to Jesus about a man casting out devils who was not part of their group, Jesus said, (Mark 9:39) "Do not stop him," Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. "Leave him alone!"

All spirit and no human government and you have spiritual chaos. Human intervention into the move of the spirit and you have religion. It's hard to find the medium, but we must find it. I believe that Lakeland is a geniune move of God, but without some correction-it will loose it credibility swiftly. For instance, no one should be delivering prophecy during the televised testimonies. If the vessel is off, there goes the whole shabang. Todd read a prophetic word from Alec that Jesus would appear and it didn't happen. Once again, too many cooks spoil the broth. Rules and regulations must be established even as Paul had to do in the Corinth church. Let us heed. For a great read check out "A Step Into Deliverance" by T. Pugh. It's a riveting autobiography about one pastor's journey into the deliverance ministry.

Thanx anonymous for the insight,

I could not agree more that God gives measures of authority to men. and they need to walk in those spheres of authority. I just don't know many that are really walking in that kind of authority. And that authority is authority to ONLY express the will of the Spirit, so the Spirit is the Lord according to scripture. And when you say human government, That is only authority to govern how and what the Spirit directs to govern. I presently know of NO ministry doing this type of governing.

You will see apostles proclaim things lke Peter did to Ananias and Saphyra. But, it will be ALL Spirit, and no decision of men. The current apostolic system of church governance now is mired in control and fear, and cannot see clearly because of it. I know of no church or apostolic network that doesn't use what I deem control...

I would also like to add that contrary to current controlling pastoral beliefs, an OFF word does not blow the whole shabang.

I have rebuked for an off word before. By just saying "My spirit does not bear witness with that...." that was enough to set this person into a time of seeking God and stop giving words that puffed himself up.

If thats governing, then I guess I do it, but as the Spirit leads...

No need to apoligize here Samantha,

I never endorsed Lakeland, I only spoke what I saw as the state of what was happening. It was called MIXTURE, and that mixture was the downfall... Pray for mercy.

Why does the revival tarry? It is because God's
people tarry to obey the powerful command of
the Lord in Rev. 18:4. This is the most powerful
revival message of the Lord to his people in our time.

As in the days of Lot, it is now. Lot was not interested
to leave Sodom. God sent two angels to rescue him.
One of the angels said to him: "Flee for your life sake ..."
Just like as Lot, God's people are not interested to leave
the great Babylon, but finally they must flee for
their life from there.

You signed min gästbok 16 September. Thank you.
I had left out apostles because we cannot pray that
Jesus shall send his twelve apostles again. After the
apostles' death, there had been no apostles.
Yet, I think we can pray Jesus to send apostles.

In Luke 9th Chapter Jesus sent out his twelve disciples.
After that, in 10th Chapter, he sent out 70 others. (KJV)
(72 according to NIV).

This can be a prophetic message. Before Jesus comes,
perhaps he will send 70 apostles. Therefore, now I have
added apostles to the text on my Web site.

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ

Thanx Alan,

We better hope and pray that he sends apostles or the perfecting of the saints as in Ephesians 4 cannot be completed. For ALL of these gifts are given UNTIL perfection, not just a couple of them....
