Internet Explorer 9 Vs Opera 10.62 : Lets talk real competition !

So lets talk competition :
Certainly the biggest change in IE is the new look and feel to it. Just when I thought Microsoft lost all of their creative and programming zen to make an actual functional browser; they ripped of the "modern" & "minimal" look of Chrome(Yeah the same browser that ripped off everything Opera offered ages ago!).
Things copied in IE9
New Tabs look:
Yawn! What is new is this? I think even have been using the same looking tabbed interface in Opera since pre-historic times. Not just that, I can even move the tab panels ANYWHERE i want or maybe drag and re-size the tabs to see what are they holding in. Smooth easy and very fast, Opera is a clear winner even over Chrome on this feature.
Integrated search in Address Bar:
Boring AGAIN! 2 Years .. Maybe more since all the others have the feature.
Speed Dial Sort of Look:
Yeah now even bored of writing more about the UI "copy-cat".
The feature smells like Widgetizing the site. Maybe this is what we can slightly call a better feature..but isnt really a unique one!
What actually Good in IE9?
Hardware acceleration for HTML5, SVG and the rest.
Lets Talk performance:
HTML5Test.com tests what HTML5 features are supported by the browser.
Here are the scores
-IE9 Beta(Release as of 9/15/10):99/300
-Opera 10.62: 159+7 Bonus Points / 300
-Firefox 3.6.9: 139 / 300
-Chrome 6.0.4:217 / 300
WebKit SunSpider Test
This comes from Microsoft itself:
Opera still IE9 in the balls here, not just for IE9.. It has been doing it since ages!
Its a well known fact that Opera the ultimate winner at Peacekeeper. Since I dont have IE9 installed nor could i get any official figures on the test; I thought maybe i should benchmark Opera against others on a slower machine.
Machine: Intel Pentium 4 - 1.80 GHz
Why such a old CPU? - Because i still use this as my main machine. Its not just me, Pentium is still the most popular family for most of the world. My opinion is to the get the maximum performance in what you got, rather than checking out benchmarks for processors like Core i7 990.
I tested with some tabs open on all the 3 browsers.
Chrome 6.0.472.59: 1894 Points
Opera 10.69: 1767 Points
Firefox 3.6.9: 825 Points
Features still missing in all the others
-Opera Mini and Turbo
-Opera Link that supports Opera Mini and Mobile!
Pretty clear by now that microsoft needs to work a lot on performance and make a less copied visual interface for their browser.
Why i actually wrote this was not to show how awesome Opera really is... But was to actually point to the biggies out there that you guys are missing on the most feature-packed browser in your articles!
