Karting @ newport

Great all-round efforts from all the boys, and in particular well done to the Birthday Boy, Craig who managed a very respectable 3rd place. This proved a difficult day for all the boys as many where still suffering the after effects of a Saturday night out in Cardiff.

Congratulations to "Thumping" Thatcher for somehow managing to crash his cart twice in the opening lap. All agreed that he showed surprising driving ability considering his "I can only just fit into the kart" stature.

"Nimble" Nav and "Simple" Simon showed good all round driving skills, tackling some of the most difficult parts of the track with ease. However, the weighty pair were at a considerable disadvantage over other drivers due to unexpected the up-hill section. Pound for pound the boys did well and could have expected a much higher finish position had the track remained flat!

"Dynamic" Dylan even surprised himself with his speed around the track. Having beaten the overall winner in a previous heat, it was very disappointing to see him miss out on a place on the podium. Dylan used his jockey like weight advantage to the fullest taking the Fastest lap in the semi-finals.

Having owned and driven a selection of fast cars on the road, Lloyd dubbed "Lucky" after miraculously cheating death several years ago when he crashed his beloved XR3i, brought some real skill to the race. A true sportsman, sharing his driving tips with the boys, "Lucky" Lloyd was ironically very "unlucky" to miss out on a medal.

"The Birthday Boy" Craig was virtually unpassable on the track because of his unique aggressive driving style. Proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that despite his age, he is in no way near the top of the hill. Craig lived up to the welsh meaning of his name "Rock" as he remained immovable on the track. Craig fought back a plethora of skilled drivers all day long to take a very well earned and respectable 3rd place.

Happy Birthday Craig.

On behalf of the Birthday boy, thank you to everyone who took part in the Grand Prix at Superkarts in Newport.

We are likely to schedule a rematch towards the end of January 2006. Details will be posted closer to the date.
