DarkAngel's Fairyland

If you see the morning dew on the green grass, that is Angel's tears

Trees - A.J. Kilmer

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Very nice poem, with clear brevity and rhythm. An ode to religion and a tribute for poem.

Dear captain, nice to hear that you enjoy this poem. Your "Dracaena Fragrans--Dragon Tree" and "Lotus" did give me a lead to read some poems on still-life, and then I chose this one, although it is not about any particular tree. This poem is quite popular due to its captivating lyrical simplicity, meanwhile not lacking in moral. Joyce Kilmer is best known for this poem "Trees". According to some comments, this poem drives home a profound message: we humans can never hope to surpass the awesome beauty of nature. However, I have not fully comprehended.

Have a glorious day!

We humans can never hope to surpass the awesome beauty of nature.
It's absolutely a truth. No matter how flowery wording we may choose, comparing with the power of silent beauty of nature, all we can do is saying nothing but to hold our breath. Maybe that's why we say silence is gold.

Have a nice weekend, dear angel.

Dear Sunflower, your sagacious comments do make me become enlightened. In front of the beauty of nature, everything else would find itself in eclipse.

Have a fabulous weekend!
