Bandar Seri Begawan - The two-week long regal ceremony, hill of custom and tradition for the royal wedding between HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulgiah and YAM Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil, continued Wednesday with the ceremony of `Majlis Istiadat Pengantin Diraja Muleh Tiga Hari'.
The ceremony was held three days after the grand `Bersanding' ceremony.
There were two separate events; in the afternoon a protocol delegation was dispatched to invite the royal groom to visit his parents at Darul Karamah. In the evening, a protocol delegation from the royal bride then invited the groom back to Istana Nurul Iman. The intention of this ceremony was to allow the royal groom to visit his parents.
In the afternoon, the ceremony at Darul Karamah began with a protocol delegation dispatched to go to Istana Nurul Iman to invite YAM Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Hj Jaafari back to visit his parents at Darul Karamah.
The groom's delegation was headed by Yang Amat Mulia Sanggamara Diraja Major General (R) Pg Hj Ibnu Baasith and Yang Amat Mulia Pg Setia Negara Pg Hj Mohd Yusof.
At Istana Nurul Iman, the royal groom, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil, entered the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana accompanied with Awangku
Khairil Khalid, 12 `Sinipit', 'Dian Tunggal' brought by `Awang-Awang', two young male `Pahawai' one bringing with him a `Kiap' and the other a `Pasigupan' led by Juru Bini Dayang Hajah Rokiah and followed by two `Pengangun Diraja', four `Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin Penyurat Awang Maidin and Pehin Penyurat Haji Awang Osman, a female Pengiran dressed in `Gadong' and a `Dayang-Dayang' bringing a Kaskol Langguai with seven male Pahawai holding a Puan, Tarian, Kabok, Panastan , Kiap, Chupu, Pasigupan and Kaskol. Also accompanying them were Dian 16 brought by 16 `Awang-Awang' as well as `Awang-Awang' bringing with them Gangsa Alu-Aluan and Royal Regalias made up of six `Pedang' and `Perisai', six `Tumbak Bendarangan' and four `Kabok' and `Panastan'.
Once the royal groom was seated, a Doa Selamat was read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz. After the Doa Selamat was read, the royal groom left Istana Nurul Iman and headed to Darul Karamah.
YAM Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Hj Jaafari and his delegation arrived at Darul Karamah where they were greeted by his parents. Upon arrival, a Doa Selamat was read by YDM Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Hj Awang Salim. The royal groom then took his rest with his family. Bandar Seri Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday attended the "Istiadat Akad Nikah Diraja" or solemnisation of the marriage vows of Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah to YM Pengiran Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Hj Jaafari.
Also in attendance at the ceremony, held at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque in the capital, were His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah and HRH Prince Abdul Malik.
Prior to the ceremony, His Majesty performed the highly recommended `Sunat Tahiyatul Masjid' prayer.
The ceremony began with Pg Khairul Khalil led by Pg Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pg Anak Hj Abdul Rahim proceeding to the mosque. Men carrying 12 Sinipit, six Pedang and Perisai, six Tumbak Bendarangan and four Kabok and Penastan accompanied the entourage.
Pg Khairul Khalil was invited to sit at Kasur Namat, a square cushion, surrounded by four ceremonial candles in the centre of the room.
The ceremony began when Pehin Dato Dr Awang Haji Hussain informed YAM Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pg Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that the Istiadat `Akad Nikah Diraja' was ready to proceed.
YAM Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pg Anak Hj Abdul Aziz informed His Majesty that the solemnisation of marriage or 'Akad Nikah' was ready to begin to which His Majesty gave his consent.
Pehin Dato Hj Awg Abdul Salim then approached His Majesty along with two men carrying a marriage vow certificate placed in a brass receptacle.
The `Akad Nikah' ceremony began with Pehin Dato Hj Awg Abdul Salim reciting the Surah al-Fatihah. Pehin Dato Hj Awg Abdul Salim then performed the `Akad Nikah' with Pg Khairul Khalil affirming his acceptance of the `akad nikah' or marriage solemnisation. Outside the mosque, cannons were fired 17 times to mark the conclusion of the ceremony.
`Lafaz Ta'liq' was then read by Pg Khairul Khalil who later signed the solemnisation form followed by Pehin Dato Hj Awg Abdul Salim. A doa selamat was read by the State Mufti.
Pg Khairul Khalil later paid his respects to His Majesty, HRH the Crown Prince, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah and HRH Prince Abdul Malik.

Kuala Belait - In Conjunction with the Royal Wedding of HRH Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah and YM Pengiran Khairul Khalil Bin Pengiran Syed Hj Jaafari, the capital of Brunei Darussalam is festooned with colourful banners announcing the Royal Wedding at lampposts, shop houses, public buildings and other places around Bandar Seri Begawan.
The four districts of Belait, Tutong, Temburong and Brunei-Muara have also been spruced up with Royal Wedding banners, and one of the highlights of the event will be the Royal Procession to be held this Sunday, starting from Istana Nurul Iman heading towards the capital and back again.
Meanwhile, the media centre, which was previously located at the Information Department, has now been moved to a more strategic location. It is now at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital, in order to accommodate and facilitate the media personnel who will be covering the Royal Wedding.

Bandar Seri Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha and Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar yesterday attended a colourful 'Berbedak' ceremony, rich in Brunei tradition for the royal bride and groom at the Istana Nurul Iman and Darul Karamah last night.
The `Berbedak' ceremony was the fifth in a series of traditional ceremonies for the Royal Wedding between Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah and YM Pengiran Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Haji Jaafari.
The ceremony for the groom began immediately after the ceremony of Berbedak Diraja for the bride was completed. The bride and groom were fully dressed in customary traditional Malay attire and adorned with traditional ornaments.
The `Berbedak' ceremony of HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah began with YB Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela informing YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah that the ceremony was ready to proceed.
His Majesty consented for the ceremony to proceed after receiving the message from YAM Pengiran Lelea Cheteria Sahibun Najabah.
Also present at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah, His Royal'Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, Pengiran Bini Hajah

`Hulubalang Diraja' and 'Hulubalang Asgar' carrying the `Pemuras', `Karga', `Kalasak' and `Kampilan' and the 'Dian Tunggal' carried by Pengiran Hajah Masni Pengiran Hj Ahmad also accompanied the delegation of the royal bride.
Also following were seven `Pahawai' women, each carrying either a `Puan', `Tarian', `Kabok' and `Panastan', `Kiap', `Chupu', `Pasigupan’ and `Kaskol’ while `Dian 16' was carried by 16 Dayang Dayang as well as the royal regalia comprising 40 `Sinipit’, 16 Tedang' and Perisai', 16 `Tumbak Bendarangan' and 8 `Kabok' and `Penastan' carried by Awang Awang. The `Berbedak' ceremony commenced with the reading of `Zikir Syarafil Anam' or `Zikir Marhaban'. His Majesty began the ceremonial powdering ritual or `menculiki' on HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah. A 17-cannon firing marked the start of the `Berbedak' ceremony.
The ceremonial powdering ritual continued with Her Majesty, HRH Pengiran Isteri and followed by other members of the royal family including the parents of the groom Pengiran Syed Haji Jaafari bin Pengiran Syed Haji Mashor and Hajah Dayang Sarbanun bte Haji Awang Abdi Manaf.
The ceremony concluded with the recital of a `doa selamat' by the State Mufti, Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Awang Abdul Aziz,
After HRH Princess Hjh Majeedah Nurul Bulqiah left Balai Singgahsana lndera Buana, His Majesty officially closed the ceremony and proceeded to Darul Karamah for the `Berbedak' ceremony for YM Pengiran Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Haji Jaafari.

Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama (Dr) Hj Awg Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri then informed YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abd Aziz that the ceremony was ready to begin followed by YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah asking consent from His Majesty for the ceremony to begin.
After getting the consent from His Majesty, the 'Berbedak' ceremony began with the Zikir Marhaban and His Majesty beginning the ceremonial powdering ritual or 'menculiki' on the royal groom followed by a 17-cannon firing to mark the start of the ceremony. The royal groom earlier arrived led by the 'Dian Tunggal' carried by 'Awang-Awang' accompanied by 4 'Pengiran Peranakan' followed by 7 'Pahawai Lelaki' each carrying a 'Puan', a `Tartan', a 'Kabok and Panastan', a 'Kiap', a 'Chupu', a `Pasigupan' and a `Kaskol' as well as `Dian 16' carried by 16 `Awang-Awang' and royal regalia comprising of 12 'Sinipit', 6 'Pedang dan Perisai', 6 'Tumbak and Bendarangan' and `4 Kabok dan Panastan'.

THE royal festive season celebrating the upcoming nuptials of Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah binti His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah and Yang Mulia Pengiran Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Haji Jaafari continued yesterday with the Majlis Istiadat Menghantar Pertunangan Diraja.
Cheterias, cabinet ministers, members of the Legislative Council, members of the nobility, state dignitaries, other distinguished guests and their spouses were present to watch His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's delegation accept the royal engagement gifts brought by the prospective groom's entourage.
The gifts, which consisted of royal wedding ornaments, traditional clothing and jewellery were carried by Awang-Awangs to both ends of Istana Nurul Iman's ceremonial halls used in yesterday's event; the Indera Kenchana Hall, where the male guests were seated and the Baitur Rahmah, where the female guests were seated.
The Majlis Istiadat Menghantar Pertunangan Diraja signifies the sending of more gifts from the groom-to-be to the prospective royal bride, indicating the couple's agreement to marry.
In the evening, the Istiadat Berjaga-jaga and religious-orientated activities resumed at Istana Nurul Iman and Darul Karamah.
Despite a short downpour in the heart of the capital yesterday evening, cultural performances from Brunei-Muara District officials continued without letting the rain dampen their spirits.
The Istiadat Berbedak Pengantin Diraja will commence later this evening at the Indera Buana Throne Hall at Istana Nurul Iman and Darul Karamah.

SHREK, Peter Parker, Jack Sparrow and James Bond were all there last night at the parking lot across the road from the Royal Regalia building.
The theme of the night was movies. The show was planned and organised by Brunei Shell Petroleum Group of Companies as part of the celebrations prior to the upcoming Royal wedding.
People were out in droves last night to participate in the cheer and merriment at the venue near the Regalia Regalia building. A similar event was staged at the Taman Jubilee.
One of the entertainers introduced himself as James Bly and proceeded to captivate the attention of the young and old alike with games, dances and songs of merriment.
Fun and games were led by the emcee while a dance group, Dance Fuzion, performed dance scenes like a number from Sumpah Orang Minyak (Tari Tualang Tiga), a well known Malay movie.
The highlights of the night were solo and duet performances by local artists Hans, Faiz and Nana. Renditions of songs from movies "Cinta" and "My Heart" were especially captivating.
Lucky spectators walked away with prizes sponsored by the company when they participated in the show.
Amidst the merriment, food and beverage stall owners were in agreement that the Royal wedding has led to early annual festivities associated with His Majesty's birthday celebrations. Vendors were glad organisers put together these shows which boost their enterprises.
At the Taman Jubilee, people were excited about the shows organised by the committee in charge of the pre-wedding celebrations.
Every night June 13, there will be performances and shows organised by the Persembahan Kebudayaan Perkahwinan Diraja.
The shows are open to the public.
An official of the Jawatankuasa Penyelenggara, Awg Hanafiah Hj Zaini, said various groups are taking charge of the events to be staged in the next few days. These include Shell, the state police, the Fire Department and various secondary schools that will present flag-waving events.
Other events taking place include magic shows and dance performances.
Last night, spectators especially enjoyed the part of the show where organisers randomly chose people to perform on stage.
Hanafiah said the event last night drew a "larger crowd than expected".

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Menghantar dan Menerima Tanda Diraja ceremony royal pre-engagement gifts ceremony and also the traditional gift-giving rites - was held last night at the Istana Nurul Iman on the occasion of the royal wedding between Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah and YM Pengiran Khairul Khalil bin Pengiran Syed Hj Jaafari.
The event started at Darul Karamah, the groom's side. Attending the event was His Royal Highness Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah. HRH gave his consent to YAM Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim to lead a delegation to the bride's side (Istana Nurul Iman) with several gifts consisting of a piece of Kain Jong Sarat (Songket sarong), a complete set of dress; a pair of bangles, a pair of earrings, four rings, a pair of necklace and other essentials for the use of the royal bride.
Each of these gifts was placed on a "gangsa" and taken to the bride's side. Carried by "awang-awang" together with "Dian 16" (16 Royal Ceremonial Candles) also carried by 16 "awang-awang", the delegation moved to Baitur Rahmah located within the Istana Nurul Iman.
An underage girl dressed like a bride was also part of the Tanda Diraja. She was carried astride at the waist of a Pengarah (an official of the royal court) as she headed and led the delegation.
The young girl carried by Pengarah Awg Jaini was handed over to YM Damong Awg Hj Ahmad and following this 17 shots of the cannon were fired.
YAM Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Rahim was then invited into the Surau of the, palace' accompanied by YAM Pg Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pg Hj Alauddin and Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama (Dr) Hj Awg Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri.
This was followed with the Menghantar Tanda Diraja entourage comprising the young girl. A "Muda-Muda" was accompanied by Pengiran-Pengiran Empat, as well as seven people carrying the "Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan" and 16 Dian" carried by 16 Awang-Awang.
Meanwhile, at Baitur Rahmah, Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Paduka Dr Hj Awg Hussain informed YAM Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pg Anak Hj Abdul Aziz that the ceremony was ready to begin.
After giving the permission to start the ceremony, the head of the male entourage then entered Baitur Rahmah along with the Tanda Diraja and entourage and began the ceremony by addressing YAM Pg Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak hj Abd Aziz of the nature of their
presence, who then accepted on behalf of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and HRH Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar and later asked Pehin Dato Seri Paduka (Dr) Hj Awg Hussain to present the Tanda Diraja and Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan to His Majesty, Her Majesty and HRH.
Pehin Dato Seri Paduka (Dr) Hj Awg Hussain then brought the entourage that was welcomed by Pehin Manteri Bini Datin Paduka Dyg Hjh Aminah and Pehin Jawatan Bini Datin Paduka Dayang Hjh Siti.
After the Tanda Diraja and Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan were placed at the centre of the ceremony, Damong Hj Ahmad and Awang-Awang left the ceremony while the PengiranPengiran Empat was seated in the allocated area facing the royal bride's family members.
Pehin Manteri Bini Datin Paduka Dyg Hjh Aminah then asked for permission from head of the ceremony to open the Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan followed by the PengiranPengiran Empat from the bride and groom side. The Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan was opened and handed over to Pehin Datin Paduka Hjh Aminah and Pehin Datin Paduka Hjh Siti to be shown to the head of the ceremony.
At the end of this royal custom, the Awang-Awang reentered the ceremony to take the Gangsa Bawa-Bawaan and replaced them with gifts from the royal bride's side.
At Baitur Rahmah, Pehin Dato (Dr) Hj Awg Hussain - informed YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz of the completion of the ceremony from the royal bride's side.
The ceremony concluded with a doa read by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Data Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awg Abd Aziz.
