Present at the event were Tareq Muhmood, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC, Rosdi Amin Yaakub, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of HSBC, senior managers and staff. Guardians of the orphans and staff from the Crown Prince Orphans' Trust also attended the event.
The event was organised by the HSBC Islamic Welfare Body, headed by its chairman, Mohd Azean Aziz.
The evening began with a bertahlil ceremony to remember loved ones that have passed away, followed by Hari Raya donations in the form of gifts and 'dint raya' from HSBC, which were presented to the orphans by Mr Muhmood. This was followed by sungkai.
"Today's donation is part of HSBC's ongoing support to the community as part of the Corporate Responsibility programme `FISBC Cares'. The bank's employees, more than half of whom are Muslim, wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate such an auspicious and holy month with those who are less fortunate", said Mr Muhmood.
"True to the meaning of Ramadhan, we sincerely hope our donation will help the residents to better celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya," he added. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
