Forum Focuses On Teachers’ Day Theme

Bandar Seri Begawan - The relevance and importance of this year's Teachers' Day theme: "Committed Teachers Enhance the Capabilities of the Nation", was the focus of a discussion held at the Persekutuan Guru-Guru Melayu Brunei (PGGMB) building in the capital.
The Director of the Yayasan Pendidikan Biasiswa PGGMB, Hj Hidop Hj Md Salleh as the chairperson of the event said that the forum was among several organised annually by the association.
In his speech, President of PGGMB, Hj Antin Ahad shared with those present his vision for the association.
The guest of honour said that the event was not just simply to make new acquaintances and strengthening existing ties, but participants were expected to share their experience and knowledge as there could be no end to education.
Quoting from an event from the past, Hj Antin said that "experience abreast with new ideas, technology and commitment" made people successful.
The forum was chaired by Hj Mohd Firdaus @ Passal Orang Kaya Kaya Haji Noordin from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) while the was made up of Dr Pg Hj Abu Bakar Pg Hj Sarifuddin, a lecturer from the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) in UBD, and Dr Ustaz Hj Mohd Zain Mahmood from the Department of Arabic Language and Islamic Civilisation in Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (Unissa).-- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
