Fat Guy Follies

The Adventures of Bryan and Friends

Last Minute Details

,

We met as a team for the last time (until the race is over) last night. We finished bike prep, logistics planning, pizza eating, etc.. Some of us left early, while the rest finished at 2:00 A.M. this morning. Here is a pic. of the racers and some of the pit crew. We have around 20 guys for the effort this year.

Some stats on the race.

Race Miles = 1042
Pre-run miles (course reconnaissance) – 4000-5000 miles

Chase (support crew and personal) miles – 7000-8000 miles

Number of riders on our team - 6

Total number of broken bones from racing between the riders – 39

Estimated equipment value of race bike and chase support – $360,000K U.S.

$ investment sponsored and personal - $ 17,500 U.S. (I think this is like $4M Canadian)

Chase and support members - 14

The equipment failure / flat tire bug has bit hard. Brento's truck cracked a cyclinder head in San Fransico yesterday. He has to have it by Saturday to head south into Mexico. Here is a pick of my truck getting four new tire as the one slow leak turned into two, OVERNIGHT!

Here is a picture of the bike with Brian Campbell (left) and Billy Cotton (right). I'm told Billy also helps out Robby (NASCAR) and Becky Gordon at the pit stops.

Where is that Koolie guy, or was he just too hard on equipment?
