Heading into the home stretch

I had a chance to visit with Brento tonight. It sounds like things are going well on the southern end of the course. Based on what Timmy, Korny and Brent have seen they will be modifying the mileage and sections that they will be riding. Brent will ride the last 190 miles, Korny has picked up another 30 miles of rough stuff Timmy had planned to ride (Timmy’s wrist’s are giving him a hard time) and as a result, Timmy will ride around 100 miles of super high speed terrain.
No major accidents to report. Brent mentioned that he hit a g-out (dip in the road) too fast and hurt his knee. It is swelled, but after a day of rest and a loaned knee brace from Korny, should be fine for race day. Brento will get on the bike around 2:00 A.M.
I did not get to speak to Korny, as he was still out on the course tonight, but the rest of his housemates said he is doing very well. He did have lots of miles today, as he had to ride 100 miles on the highway, back to base camp after pre-running the course. It makes for a tough, long haul. He’s doing his homework and will no doubt be rock solid on race day. In fact we have all explained to him that the only reason he is on the team is so that the rest of us can ride slow, and still win our class.
Here is one of our sponsor pictures. Scott Goggles helped out bunches by sending us enough goggles to have at each pit (16 pits). The two guys holding the banner are looking to race the Baja next year, and pitched in holding up the sponsor banner. Nice guys, studying the whole scene to learn what is needed to get into the sport.
Here is the bike, in full race trim. The lights will get installed later, further down the course on race day. We do this in the event that if the bike wrecks earlier in the day, it will not damage the lights.
More to report tomorrow from contingency, registration and tech inspection.
