3 -2 -1 GO!

The bike made it through tech, the riders have completed all the pre-running and all we await is the drop of the flag.
I spoke with Brento and Korny tonight. They have both had a number of good days out on the course. Korny mentioned that he has dozens of water crossings, with two about three feet deep each. So, it will be very important that he keeps the bike upright and moving forward. No small task in the middle of the night to be sure. He describes his section of course as rough and technical. This is ideal; as Korny’s riding style suits this type of terrain the best.
During the pre-run, Korny’s friend and riding partner Chris attempted one of the water crossings at 55 MPH. He did not make it, and has a nice wound on his arm to prove it. But nothing is broke, so they continued on. Besides, he is a Checker and I think those guys actually enjoy getting hurt. Their a twisted bunch.
Brento sounds upbeat and anxious to fulfill a lifelong dream, competing in and finishing the Baja 1000. Brent did mention that Korny was a little nervous, and he was as well. Nice to know, as the butterflies have me firmly in their sights. At the end of our conversation we said a quick prayer together, and promised to speak after our sections end tomorrow.
We had some fun today getting the bike through tech and at the riders meeting. Our fun started during breakfast when we went mullet hunting. We spotted and tracked the elusive Baja Mullet.
We first saw it from a distance.
Then we hid behind a table and plate of fruit (lower left hand corner) and bagged the monster up close. Look at it, in all it's majesty! The mullet, business in the front, party in the rear.
The crowds at contingency were huge.
At tech inspection.
Robby Bell from Team Honda was being interviewed by NBC. We couldn’t help but get the bike close to the camera, for sponsor placement.
One of our sponsors is Maxxis tires. We are shameless in our sponsor placement/recognition.
The rider meeting was held in a beautiful old Spanish style building. Jesse James (monster garage) and Robby Gordon (NASCAR) were in attendance, as they are both driving trophy trucks.
When I get back to the hotel tomorrow night I will provide updates as I get them. Expect the first around 8:00 P.M. or so. If all goes well, our team will finish in about 22-26 hours. I leave the start line at 7:17 A.M.
