New Race Team

I must tip my hat, and my beer, to Dan and the rest of the Baja 1000 team for an outstanding finish. I really wish I could have been part of it, however after looking at Dan's last post with the race statistics I am sure the two Fat Canucks have been forever sent to the minor leagues. Even without our slow speeds, they only had one flat tire and apparently no one crashed the bike. Canuck Brent crashed 8 times in 100 miles, but Dan's Checkers crew put on 1000 miles without a single crash. Dan's motto used to be, ""If you ain't wreckin, you ain't racin". Apparently we took that a little too close to our hearts. Canuck Brent is already scheming on plans for 2007 Baja races. I also must thank Dan for posting all the stories from the race. It was very entertaining.
Some other news on the home front. Wee E is happy and growing. Happy, at least until someone makes him wear a hat with ears. I warned Kim about that just prior to the shower, but some people just have to find out for themselves.

Other than that Poco is pretty happy. He still eats, poops and sleeps.
On Tuesday I was flying home through Denver airport and had a couple of hours to kill. I wandered into a store selling pictures from Thomas Mangelsen . I was enthralled with his pictures and amazed at the colours he was able to achieve in his photgraphs. There were many that I really liked and wanted to buy. Then I checked out the prices and decided I didn't have a spare $3000 kicking around for a huge framed picture to go on my wall.
I wandered further through the airport and came across a display of the best of Denver artists. Amongst the pictures was this one, titled "Cheerios" for sale at a mere $2200.00. I stood close to it, far away from it, looked at it upside down through my legs, and it just looked like someone cut out a bunch of barcodes and stuck them to some canvas.
Finally someone explained it to me. They were a bunch of barcodes that had been cut out, but amongst the Cheerios barcodes were some from other brands of cereal. Freaking Brilliant. I will be buying this one for sure.
I sure am glad I are an engineer and don't have to worry about the other side of my brain that is supposed to deal with the artsy stuff. I would never be able to distunguish good art from absolute crap........
Cheers
Bryan
