A Bigger Bang in the Snow

, ,

Saturday was the last concert on the Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang Tour", so Kim and I headed off to BC place to see the second greatest Rock and Roll band in the world. At one point we thought we were watching a trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean. Closer inspection revealed that it was not Johnny Depp on stage. Keith Richards was on some type of happy drug, but not the same Happy Drugs as the gum chewing Goo Goo dolls (Moickel take note) from the other week. They were really really really happy.
The show was entertaining, although I didn't think Mick was at his best, and when Keith decided to sing a few songs, it was actually painful to watch (listen). Thankfully the backup singers remembered the words.

The stage set up was really cool, especially if you were one of the people that forked out several thousand dollars to sit on stage, well actually over the stage. Those are people sitting on the three levels in what appears to be apartment buildings.

At one point in the show, the center section of the stage rolled down to the other end of the stadium, so that the people like us, who only paid $179 per ticket could see them too.

Ron looked sober, I read he checked into Rehab a few moths ago, so apparently he hadn't fallen off the wagon yet. Charlie just kept banging away.

I neglected to take my camera to the Goo-Goo Dolls, because my Motorola RAZR phone has a camera built in. This is the Goo-Goo Dolls at left, in case you were unfamiliar with them.....Presumably a camera phone was used to record Kramer doing his racist rant. The people who recorded it must not have a RAZR.

It snowed in Vancouver the last couple of days, wreaking havoc with the roads and my back. I live in Vancouver so I don't have to shovel snow, but obviously the weatherman forgot that bit. Despite the shovelling it got me anxious for sledding season. I fired all the sleds up to make sure they still ran.

Wee Eck got bundled up and went for his first adventure in the snow. We need to get him used to the snuggly thing before he gets on a sled.

Dan extended a challenge to Brent and I for the '07 Baja Races. We are issuing a counter challenge back to Dan and the rest of Team Checkers to join us here in the Great White North for some High Octane, High Altitude Sled adventures this winter.

One last thing, the people who write the Opera Browser decided to highlight this blog as one they think is cool this week. Opera Community Home Page. Thanks very much for that. Hopefully Wee E thinks the same thing when he grows up.

Cheers
Bryan

Sorry if I gave you the impression that I didn't like the Stones, I really enjoyed the show, but I am not placing them on a pillar of greatness for their performance at this show. They were not at their best compared to previous shows in Vancouver. Maybe age, maybe other extenuating circumstances. Cheers
