Fat Guy Follies

The Adventures of Bryan and Friends

Ellsworth First RIde

Check out this bike. It is the very first Ellsworth "Ride", Serial number 001.

The bike is so new the manufacturer doesn't have a picture on their own website yet.Ellsworth Bikes. The coolness is not from the fact that it is sort of styled after one of those I am afraid to go fast Harley Motorbikes, rather it comes from the transmission. Instead of having a deraileur at the back to change gears, this bike has a continuosly variable transmission (CVT) built into the hub.

The transmission uses rotating ball bearings to change ratio. Here is a diagram from their website and if you follow this link, there is a flash demo of theFallbrook NuVinci transmission. Just remember 5 years from now when every bike in the world has a CVT, you read about it here first, and a fat guy was riding it.

The shifting is incredibly smooth, and you can change ratio while standing still. The duct tape is to hold the festive Christmas lights on, an option not included in the $4000.00 price tag. I was going to take a picture of me riding it outside, but it was snowing and freezing cold so we opted for the stationary pose in the shop.

One last thing for Mick. He lost 3 lbs last week, so he is probably hungry enough to eat his plate. In this case I suggest a trip to one of Bad Brad's BBQ three locations. Order the cowboy special. It comes on paper so you don't have to worry about eating the plate.

This would be the 2 meat special with ribs and polish sausage. I recommend mixing the hot and regular sauce for the best balance of hot and sweet.

Cheers
Bryan
