A Short Van Morrison Review

Just got home from seeing the Belfast Cowboy at the Garage in Vancouver. Maybe he should be called the Belfast Bandit. $150 for a ticket. The show started at 7:30 sharp, and the lights were on at 9:00 pm. The music was excellent. VM was flawless in his exectution, the musicians in the band were on top of it, but when the lights came on the entire audience was dumbfounded. 90 minutes?! Usually when there is no opening act, the band plays a long set.
I had heard that he was not really one for interacting with the audience, but when he wasn't singing or playing, he turned his back on us. He doesn't wear out too many pairs of shoes. The only two spoken words were "Thank You", as he walked off stage. Kim summed it up I think. He was supposed to open for the Stones in Vancouver, until The Stones rescheduled. He came back to Vancouver, and charged us again to see his opening act set. I still love his music, but don't think I'll fork out the cash again. We were home and the babysitters still had an hour and a half on the meter....
The security was even tighter than at Eddies, crappiest music festival in Scotland gig, they weren't letting anyone take pictures, so I couldn't try different settings.
