Fat Guy Follies

Long time readers may remember our intrepid pit crew Steve Koole. Somehow he managed to spend a week in Baja with us and never change a tire. He did pick us up with cold beverages at the end of the pre-runs. He also crashed my bike on the road back into Vallee de Trinidad, requiring a visit to a Mexican hospital, where he discovered that the service and care was excellent, and took a bit of abuse from RaceDog and Lizard.

Well it seems that since we wouldn't let him ride our bikes after that, he has gone out and bought one for himself, and is planning on running the Baja in 2008. Kim, E, and I were sitting down at the lake on Friday, when in came Steve and Brent.

Note Brent's new gear and as yet unscratched carbon fibre helmet for Easter! I have recommended that when he gets his helmet painted, it include a "This Side Up" label to remind him of the correct relationship between rider and bike.

The three of us headed out for a ride and Steve did very well, despite us taking him up some rough roads and riding in the snow.

And just to prove that he finished the ride unscathed, here he is sitting back on the deck.


I am finished in Illinois for the week and on my way home. Yeah!!!!
