Ineffective Paddling

So the water levels were way up in the river, which means primo rafting conditions. Paul had
to stay and manage the water in his whisky, but Kim and I managed to convince John that rafting was inherently safe, at least until he had the wet suit on and he was beside the river getting the last minute briefing.
The conversation went something like:
German Guide: Remember, if you fall out of the raft, you vill normally pop back up right beside
it, so grab the rope around the outside and somevone will pull you in. If not svim a few
quick strokes back to the raftt. Look around, sere might be another raft closer, so qvickly
svim to it. If you can't make it, svim to shore.....
John: Excuse me, I can't swim a stroke
Guide: Ja, Good Luck
Anyhow, I have to give John credit, because he got in the boat and we had a great raft ride.
We did get wet! After it was all over, John commented to me, that he felt that our paddling was not very effective at moving the boat. I just realized why. Look at the following sequence, paying attention to John. He has the other blue helmet on at the back of the boat, port side.
Apparently John's left hand never let go of the rope. No wonder he couldn't paddle.
Good on ya John for going along for a great ride, and thanks to REO Rafting for a safe ride. I am sure you will not forget it for a few days. I posted a lot of other pictures in a photo album, just hit the photo tab at the top.
