Heaven in OKC

Heaven truly can be found in Oklahoma City, at least for a carnivore. On many of my trips to OKC I venture down to the historic stockyards, where the cowboys have been bringing their cattle to market for years.
It should come as no surprise to anyone, that in close proximity to a stockyards, you would find a place that serves good meat, and in OKC it is Cattlemen's Cafe. Cattlemen's have been around since 1910.
Cattlemen's have the Blue Ribbon Signature Steak at the bottom of their menu. No price is listed, since the steak varies from day to day. The meat is handpicked from the finest USDA prime beef available. It is always a fantastic steak. Tonight the Blue Ribbon Special was the 18 Oz Prime Ribeye Steak. Mouthwatering? No?
But then our waiter went on to tell us about the top secret special. It seems their supplier had given them a few 24 Oz cuts of the same beef, as samples. These were being offered for $6.00 less than the 18 Oz steak. 24 Oz. That is a pound and half of steak. Of course it comes with Baked Potatoe, Salad and a Dinner Roll. About this time my Scot's heritage kicked and in in the interest of frugality, I ordered the full cow steak.
I present the Cattlemen's Top Secret Thursday Night Steak,

Jerry and Brian followed the old adage, When in Rome, and followed suit.
To top off a fantastic dinner, the valet was waiting outside to take me the 100 metres back to my car.
I made it back to my hotel, but I can feel a long summer's nap coming on right about now...zzzzzzz
On a more sombre note, My Uncle George passed away on Tuesday. I didn't see him much but remember him most from when I was a litle guy. My thoughts go out to my cousins who have lost a Father, and my Dad and his siblings who have lost a brother.

broiled over a sharp, hot flame from real Charcoal that finished the meat to a sear on the outside - juicy and tender within!
