Suspension Testing

Now back to some old photos from before the A3 trip. Dan is riding for the Yamaha factory team in the Baja 1000 this November. They get to take the bike out, test it, and send it back to the factory for minor tweaks, like changing the rake on the front forks by a half a degree. We also get to test our bikes, and then go home and try to figure out if there is anything we can do about it, and usually the answer involves spending money. A few weeks back we headed up the Sowaqua Forest Service Road and caught a bit of air to see how the suspensions were working.

We found a site with a reasonable take off and landing. Brent was a little off his form, as he was not pointing at the camera.

Steve was riding Michaels 230 on this ride, as his bike was apart in the garage, waiting for some Honda factory technicians to pop round to fix it. After several weeks of waiting he finally gave up.

I discovered that I might have to lose a few pounds, as even with a little bit of airtime, I get full value out of the suspension that came with the bike.

If anyone has any trick XR650 Suspension bits they would like to donate to our cause, please let us know.

I also learned one more lesson. Stay away from Hill when he is in the mud.

Cheers
No bounce Bryan
