The Adventures of Bryan and Friends

A White Water Wedding

,

Post wedding we headed to the cabin for some Whitewater Rafting with our friends at REO Rafting. We had enough people to fill a boat, with Tyler as our guide.

Mick is conspicuously absent, as he whined and played the injury card.
The Nahatlatch river is always challenging, and this year the levels were low enough that we got to ride all the way from Hannah Lake. Everyone had to jump out of the raft going into Francis Lake and then get back in the raft, to prove we could swim. This was a requirement for running the next section, the Rose Garden and Meat Grinder. I was the first guy in the raft, and I was supposed to help pull everyone else in. The first guy I saw was Marten the Bucket. I looked around and fortunately there were skinnier people elsewhere around the raft to pull in.

The Rose Garden is the longest stretch of continuous whitewater in BC, ending in a big hole calle The Meatgrinder. This is the MeatGrinder.

We made it through with no drama at all, a little wetter, and our hearts racing a little faster though.

I think the looks on everyone's faces sums up our experience.

At the end of the run we were given the option to continue on and run the Canyon. Four of us accepted the challenge. Kim, Alison, Christian and myself. If you ever get the opportunity to run this section, take it. It was fantastic. At one point Tyler said watch the kyak in front. It will look like he falls off a cliff. That was beacuse he did. He dropped off about a 6 foot ledge. A fair bit of excitement doing that in a raft. No pictures are available of that section, but I am negotiating with REO to get some video footage.

Then it was back to the cabin for more fun and games. More pics coming.
