Last Daisy At The Clutha

The other weekend, I ended up in East Kilbride with the Hillbillies. Eddie, the GMan and I headed into Glasgow on Saturday afternoon for a bit of entertainment. I am always amazed at how full the bars are, and how freely everyone is imbibing on a Saturday afternoon. Our initial plan was to take the train to the city, but once we were in the cab, we decided that in the interest of expediency, we would just take the taxi all the way to the Scotia. The Scotia had a problem with their plumbing, or at the very least one of their patrons had a problem. The aroma was overpowering, so after one hasty pint, we headed across the street to the Clutha Vaults.

The Clutha has recently been redone, and a large crowd (no reference to GMan)was inside enjoying the ambience.

The name of the band escapes me, but they were very good. Eddie informed me that one of the guys used to play with The Daisies. This was their last gig together, as he wsa heading for Australia for a drinking trip.

In their honour, the bar staff donated a bottle of Whisky, and the band informed us they were going to get comletely a**holed that afternoon. I think many of the patrons already fell into that category, and we decided that "when in Rome".

As evening fell, we headed back up the hill and eventually found our way to Mick's house for Wee Angus' BDay party.

I think this might be the real reason Mick was kicked out of the Butlers. Nothing to do with being too fat, rather, he sleeps through most of the set.

Big Al was there with his Drum, Sam played his Guitar, and I finally got to meet Sarah, the Aussie Bird.

Ted and Sam played into the wee hours, but uncharacteristically, we were in bed before the sun came up. I had told the Hillbillies on my arrival, that I could not afford another three day hangover.

I guess I missed out on a picture of Angus, but I will blame that on the cheekiness of the 2 Kiwi boys he was hanging with. They took the piss out of me everytime I saw them.

Cheers
Bryan
