All Very Civilized

La Habana City is said to be one of the most intoxicating in the world. I am not sure if that relates to the culture, the fantastic architechture, or the amount of Rum they put in the drinks. Actually all three are true.
We were staying at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, built over a hundred years ago in the style of all the Grand Hotels. Sitting on the back patio in the big wicker chairs it is easy to imagine oneself in a long ago time.
The Nacional held the largest meeting of the Mafia, I think in the 1940s. Movie Stars, heads of state have all stayed here, and had a drink in the patio, or the Churchill Bar.
Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the harbour is very cool even if breakfast is a Daquari and a Bucanero Beer.
Lunch on the roof of the Santa Isabel Hotel, the oldes in La Habana was fantastic, Lobster on the grill.
and the drinks were made to a very high standard as well, all very civilized. Although the Mohito was not quite to La Bodegita's standard.
A view of the old Fortress.
Some pool time was required.
Some of the architecture on the Malecon is fantastic. In the 1950s La Habana must have been the coolest place in the western world.
10 years ago, everything was in disrepair, however many of the buildings are now being renovated.
It is quite heartening to see.
Cheers
