Scotties 40th Bday Blowout
Sunday, August 9, 2009 5:14:53 PM
Scotty missed out on the cardigan ceremony when he turned 40 many years ago, and has been whining about it ever since. Jackie decided to throw him a big bash this year, complete with cardigan ceremony. We didn't realize exactly everything that she had planned. Somehow she managed to pull off a several hour light show in the sky rivalling even the Vancouver Celebration of Light Fireworks display also held that night. Kim baked a cake to go with the general attire of the afternoon.
Not sure where the knife is pointed.
We were all assembled in the back yard happily chowing on the food and sipping the occasional beverages, when the first premonition of what was about to transpire showed. (Mr. Gray may recognise the shirt Kim is wearing - I get married and lose all the good stuff)
A few gentle drops of rain, forcing a few of the more delicate souls to head for shelter.
The rain didn't dampen E's enthusiasm for the sandbox, it just got muckier.
The rain stopped momentarily and then returned a little heavier,
prompting Scotty to declare, I have a big tent, we can set it up in no time.
This proclamation was followed by about an hour or more of hilarity as the tent was erected.
Kenny was not going to be beaten by the weather.
Finally as it was getting dark, the deluge happened,
and the tent was finally up.
The tent was in use for a few minutes until the lightning started.
Then when a bolt struck in very close proximity to Scotties backyard, the hot tub and area under the metal tent frame was vacated faster than The Bucket drains his first pint in the Calderwood after a long days work.
The Cardigan Ceremony was moved inside,
and then followed by another Big Boys Club weigh in. Unfortunately, the G-Man was not available, so Big micked reigned supreme.
Scotty was firmly in second place (as if there was any doubt after the cardigan picture).
Dukie was denied.
Thanks Jack for a good evening.
Cheers
