Bye Bye Red Wrangler

I am on my way home for Chrisrmas. This means that I will be giving up the Red Wrangler.
I was surprised to see a Wrangler in the rental car paddock, so I grabbed it.
Last time I drove a Jeep, it was called CJ5, and I was less than half this age. I think the concept of no top, no doors, no windshield is cool. Winter, work, and no tools precluded me from removing the top and doors, but last Sunday in OKC it was a balmy 21C, so I decided to take the T-Tops off.
As I was stowing the tops I discovered that they were not called T-Tops, but "Freedom Tops". This lead me to wonder if they used to be called "French Tops"......... but I digress. I left the tops off overnight, which meant that Monday morning dawned at -7C. Brrrrrr
Anyhow, it was pretty fun driving a short wheel base vehicle, after the land yacht turning radius of the GMC 2500HD. After just wrapping up the Chrysler 62TE Transmission program, I would still concerned about the Chrysler Engineering quality, so not sure if I would buy one.
Despite several attempts, I was not successful in getting the prerequisite "Rental Car Airtime" Picture (See next post coming soon). A self timer just doesn't cut it for action shots.
Cheers

When they were CJ5's was when they still looked like Jeeps in my opinion, though the Wrangler you got was certainly a nice rental.
I worked in the rental car industry years ago, and we had a few Jeeps. We always had to inform the renter that taking them "off road" would violate the rental contract. I hated that policy and felt like a dope with those words coming out of my mouth.
