Bring on the Games

I have been spending a bit of time in recent weeks, commuting between Vancouver and Leicester in the UK. I have been trying to get my fill of Guiness, by spending as much time as I can in O'Neills, occasionally inviting my friends, such as Nick and Neil along for a pint of the Amber Nectar. Well, techincally Nick is drinking the black stuff, but I can attest that it still was a quality pint.
As a result of this, I have been able to meet many of the tourists, athletes and support people coming to Vancouver for the games. On one of my recent flights, the Swedish Bi-Athletes were aboard. I was surprised to find out that a Bi-Athlete does not like both boys and girls, rather they cross country ski like crazy and then shoot a 22 Cal rifle at a target. The rules are much more complicated than that, but....
A Bi-athlete team consists of athletes coaches, trainers, medical staff, cooks and ski waxers. Silly me, I always wax my own skis.
Anyhow, I was sitting beside my two new Olympic friends Mattius Neilsen (L) and Fredrick Lindstrom (R).
Fredrick was born in the same town as the Vancouver Canuck's Sedin twins. For those of you who follow hockey, the Sedins are pretty darn good hockey players, and pose a potential threat to the Canadian Team. After 10 hours on the airplane Mattius, Fredrick and I managed to negoiate a deal (mostly Fredrick and I, as Mattius was too busy watching Season 4 of Entourage, with Swedish Subtitles). In exchange for our support in the biathalon, Fredrick will point out to the twins that it may not be in their best interest to play a good game in the town that provides their paycheques.
Go Fred and Matt
Sorry Espen, I met some Norwegians, but I did not meet any athletes.
Cheers
