Fat Guy Follies

The Adventures of Bryan and Friends

Rocky and the Lost Mine

Once again we headed to Rocky's for the Nakusp Music Festival, and once again, it is not just about the music. Friday morning dawned (okay Friday Noon broke) with a few clouds about, so we decided to get on the bikes and head into the mountains after a hearty breakfast. Hey Guiness, it is not just for breakfast anymore...

Cam stopped by to show us the type of equipment not to ride into the mountains on.

Rocky and Kim took one quad while Stacey rode the other.

Byron appeared to be riding really slow, until someone pointed out that Byron was afraid. Afraid of getting too far from Stacey's quad. It had the beer cooler.

Shortly thereafter he did pick up the pace. It was only then I realized he was riding with a beer in each hand. Frequent pit stops were required for the rest of the group that were not so talented. The cool mountain air at higher elevations means occasionally you can see one's breath as they exhale.

We made it up to the top of the mountain to the old core shack.

From there it was just a short ride to the old shaft
It is really dark in there. We did not have much for flashlights so I did not venture in very far, but Rocky claims it goes in about 500m or more. He made it to the end once. I also discovered that my camera uses visible light to focus, and had to be set to manual focus to work in the tunnel. The conundrum is that my eyes use visible light to focus also.

There was even an abandoned mine car, just like on Eric's episode of Thomas the Tank Engine.

Kim chose not to go in quite so far.

More refreshments and then a ride back down.

Thoughts on the actual music next post.
Cheers
Afraid of the Dark Bryan

Wow! Massively good story with amazing pics.

I'd never considered Guinness with breakfast, but that breakfast looks good and I think it goes with it OK. up beer
