The Untold Story

Before we headed up sledding the other weekend, I surreptitiously made some modifications to the other guys sled. For regular Fat Guy Follies readers, you will be aware that my sled has an extremely powerful Tree Magnet in the front of it. Under the cover of darkness, I removed it, and split it between Brent's Sled and Pat's Sled.
They did not suspect a thing until Pat got kicked off his sled at the top of a long and steep climb. His sled was initially pointed straight down, but quickly veered for one tiny tree, all alone on the hill. If it were not for that tree, his sled would have ran to the bottom and stopped unscathed. Oops, time for some hood repairs Pat. I marked up the pic to show where Pat fell off, and the sled's track. It was a long walk down for Pat.
The above picture does not do the size of the hill or steepness of the hill justice. Even the bottom of the picture is still steep hill. The flat section is not shown.
Shortly after, while riding through a lightly tree'd area, Brent got close and personal with a nice young Hemlock. You have to look closely to distinguish the sled from the tree.
The tree is actually much older than it looks as the snow is quite deep. Here Brent can be seen starting to dig...
Finally we headed up into the treeless alpine. Here we encountered a bunch of crazy skiers. They were doing backflips off a jump. This was not your run of the mill in bounds mogul they were jumping off. Look real close at the pic. There is a black dot in it.
I was a long way away with the camera, so this is about the best enlargement I can get. He is in the middle of a double backflip with a 720 thrown in for good luck. Not sure what it is called, maybe a double full gainer? Either that or Out of his Flippin' Mind. I used to think that Shaun White the Gold Medal American Snowboarder got a lot of airtime. He doesn't have anything on these guys.......
Oops, not quite a smooth landing.....
Not sure if that was over or under rotation, but the result is the same....
But he did recover and ski out of it.
Cheers
