Chicken and Waffles in the Valley of the Sun

Yes ML, I got the message, enough about GPSs and secrets, a new blog post about what we are doing....
So..... We heard about a new culinary treat, and decided to check it out. Chicken and waffles at Mays Counter in Tucson. The fact that it was warm and sunny in Arizona had nothing to do with our decision, nor did tonights game between the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Vancouver Canucks and the Phoenix Coyotes. (Please note, that this morning I have both feet firmly planted on the Canucks Bandwagon, later today, I may be off running in the other direction)
The trip started out well, with Liam Neeson joining us in the lounge for pre-takeoff drinks. I consider that if I am within 20m of a celebrity that we are close personal friends. Actually, I just thought he was a tall bloke with sunglasses, until Kim told me who he was. We obliged and did not take a picture. Then on the plane down we sat with Andy and Cassie Van of Vandalism. They had just played a gig in Vancouver and were headed to San Diego. We had a nice conversation about air quality in confined spaces, and then he went on to insult me by insinuating that I am old and would not like their music. Hmmpph
In planning this trip, we were burning up some Holiday Inn points, so I was looking for Hotels to stay in. The Holiday Inn Express was $119 per night or 25,000 points. The Intercontinental Montelucia Resort and Spa was $530 per night or 30,000 points. We are staying at the HI Express..... NOT!
The downside, as Kim has just found out, is that a Margarita ( on tap, not even flash blended, Brenda) is $15.00. The prix fix dinner for 2 at the restaurant last night would have been $230 before wine. PF Changs was $40.00
Eventually we made it to Tucson to try this new culinary delight with Dan and Liz. Surprisingly, it works quite well.
I later realized that I often have a fried egg with my waffles at home, which is really, just a young chicken, sort of like veal for poultry...
I did not try the addition of Hot Sauce, although Dan recommends it highly.
We also made a stop at Houstons. I had their signature 2" thick Porkchop, and once again made a school boy error, and forgot to request it butterflied. No worries, it was fantastic.
More after we go watch the Canucks kick some Coyote Butt
Cheers
