A Home Game On The Road

The real reason for our trip to the Valley Of The Sun, was not to eat waffles, climb rocks or shoot guns, but to watch the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Canucks (yes I am still on the bandwagon) play the Phoenix Coyotes. Since I am on the Wagon, I am a Louuuuu Fan once again.

It was a good game, end to end action.

We may have been a little late because some bonehead decided to schedule a soccer game at the arena next door to the Hockey game. They share the same parking lots. Traffic was lined up for miles. We were thinking, wow, look at all these people going to the hockey game, in the USA no less. WRONG! Everyone was going to see the soccer game. We ended up abandoning the rental car a mile from the arena and running the rest of the way. Fortunately, I had met up with Dan for lunch earlier in the day, and he had put a theft deterrent sign on the door for me.

The game was televised in Vancouver, and Kim got good seats, so we wore our Canucks T-Shirts thinking we would stand out in the crowd, and maybe get on TV. Schoolboy error. The entire crowd was from Vancouver, it was a sea of blue and white. The occasional red shirts in the crowd were the Team Canada Hockey Jerseys, not Coyote jerseys.

It must be extremely disheartening to be playing at home, and have the visiting crowd drown out your mascot when he is try to get a cheer going.
Anyhow, the right team won, and all was well. We did not join the Ex-pats for the afterparty at the Yardhouse due to an early flight home - I know, we are old.

Cheers
