Weathering the Storm

As alluded to in my previous post, we decided to go to New York to see the Hurricane. We arrived a few days early, but were not really prepared for the hardships which we had to endure during the Hurricane. We did not realize that all of Manhattan would close, and everyone would leave. We stocked up on the essentials, like beer, but figured the street vendor selling fruit would still be there. He packed up shop and left, leaving us without Limes for the Coronas. Being hardy souls, we improvised, with stiff upper lips.
Room service was reduced, forcing Mic to eat salad, the first veggies to pass those lips in several years.
On Saturday ahead of the Hurricane everyone was battening down the hatches, and sandbagging the doors.
This put a serious dent in the New York Economy, as Emily, the Ks and Indy could not shop.
We tried to do some tourist things on Saturday but most were closed. Rather than seeing "Top of the Rock",Rockefeller Centre" we saw "The Lobby of the Rock"
On Sunday we got up early, at the crack of 10, and looked outside to see a completely vacant New York. This is the view from Penn Station, looking up 7th to Times Sqaure, not a car on the road.
We decided to take a stroll without using the sidewalks. Checked out Grand Central Station (I know it is actually Terminal)
We decided that we would for sure be able to get a meal at the famous Hurricane Club, after all what better place to weather a storm than an institution founded as a result of a Hurricane. (click on History to see the story when you follow the Link).
Nope - Denied - It was closed.
Cheers
