My OperaLAX Theme Building

I have always thought that this restaurant at LAX was really cool. As a kid I imagined it as the most super expensive place to eat in the whole world. Nowadays it is dwarfed by the rest of the airport. I had a couple of hours to kill in LA the other day, so I went to visit it.
Turns out, it is called the "Theme Building" not the "Interstellar Spaceship Restaurant" that it would be, if I had the naming decision. One other really cool fact is that you can go up on the roof. There is even a full time LA Policeman in the lobby to write down the names of the 12 or so people that visit the roof each day. From the roof, you can see most of the airport runways.
I think the Kiwis might be carrying the Hobbit a bit far though

It has been about three years since the last time I flew out of LAX. My flight departed at 5AM on a Friday morning, so I was there at 3:30. The electronica music was blasting all through the terminal at that hour. It was a strange feeling.
