Rest Day, New Race Place and Pre-Running the Chevy

Steve got hit with a $400 hospital bill to fix up his arm from his crash yesterday. He is still fired from his crew chief job though. We walked him by the Honda Pit today to show him what a crew is supposed to do. He complained that it was his lack of a proper race budget that prevented him from having a crew to boss around.
Yesterday we celebrated because we ran all day without getting a flat. We were wrong. We had a flat on Brent's KTM today.
Gratuitous Wheelie Pics:
Brent's Short Cut and a re-enactment of the outcome:
We heard there was a traffic jam on the hill at race mile 50 today as all the pre runners were getting stuck. We have revised our race plan. Dan is going to run the first 100 miles, and pass off the bike to Brent at El Rayo. Brent is running from El Rayo, Race mile 100 through the Simpson loop and back to Vallee de Trinidad, race mile 256. I am going to run the high speed section from Trinidad to San Vincente and up to Santo Thomas. Dan will run the bike back into the finish, probably running with lights on. Right now, the math suggests that The trophy trucks will be overtaking the bikes somewhere out of Trinidad. I am not looking forward to that part.
Yesterday when Steve and Brent were on the bikes, I figured I would practice my trophy truck driving in my pickup. We cruised the road at about 90 - 100 km/hr on the bikes at a leisurely pace. By the time I got the 2500 HD to 60 km/hr the cooler was airborne over sides of the box. It is amazing how the bikes eat up the bumps. Note to self, next year bring a rental truck down.
Steves Skid Marks:
Last night we stopped in Ojos at an outdoor taco stand for dinner.
This afternoon I was fixing the flat on Brent's bike and he said he was going to clean the race bike. This is what happened:
We have heard a rumour that the Honda team guys are reading this blog to try to figure out our strategy, so I am not going to tell you where we are prerunning tomorrow. I just walked pastthe compound, and it looks like the trophy truck guys are fighting over who gets to pit beside us. More pics tomorrow once they get it sorted out.
Cheers
El Burrito Grande
