A Day Out With Thomas

Sorry for the long delay Donna, I am finally posting the pics from Eric's biggest adventure of the year.

In April, I made the mistake of telling Eric that we were going to see Thomas. For the last 10 weeks, all we have heard is "Is Thomas coming today", every day, several times a day. I have since made a mental note, that until Eric fuly understands the concept of a calendar, all future events shall be a surprise.

Thomas the Tank Engine and the Fat Conductor rolled into Squamish the other weekend, so off we went to see them, along with about 10,000 other people.

Sure enough, there was Thomas pulling into the station with some old BC Rail Budd Cars.

This is the Squamish station house at the West Coast Heritage Railway

Eric got up close to the Famous Tank Engine, but not quite close enough to figure out how it worked (or didn't)

We actually got to ride the train. I noticed at the end of the train, a Rocky Mountaineer Coach when we were boarding, so we scooted through the vintage coaches, heading for it, in the hopes that it had AC.

Fortunately it did.

Soon we were underway. If you look closely at the end of the train, you might see Thomas' secret helper.

We only travelled a short distance, but did get to see some other old trains.

Despite the AC, refreshments were still required. Eric, always the opportunist, quickly realized that Emily was not paying attention.

We closed the trip with a stop to see Sir Topham Hat, who used to be just called the Fat Conductor, before he got a promotion, and the world became politcally correct.

Eric proclaimed "He is not real" as we went for the picture.

Cheers
