Spot the GPS aka, How does a Real Canadian Spends Thanksgiving?

We have arrived in the UK. It was a very uneventful trip with Wee E hanging out like a well seasoned traveller. The only minor event was a wee bit of projectile vomitting by someone else in our party as the captain performed aerobatics on his landing approach. The domino effect almost kicked in as I helped clean up. Gaaak. However there is a bit of old business to clear up before we start in on the UK trip.

Last Weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving. We loaded up the gear and headed to the Cabin, with Brent and his boys close behind. It didn't take long before the tire gods found us.

In all we had 4 flat tires on the weekend, plus the neighbour had one. Saturday was wood cutting and deep fried Turkey. mmmmmmmmmmm

Sunday Brent and I headed out on our bike ride. We got around the gate at 50 km, and headed way back on roads that hadn't been travelled by humans for months. Fantastic country. As we crossed the river I looked downstream for a split second (we were moving quite rapidly)to admire the view.

I looked back to discover that Brent had stopped to admire the view. You must admit, it is quite picturesque.

Wet timber has about the same coefficient of friction as ice, so the back end slid out as I tried to maneuver around Brent, and I was unable to pull the bike out of the spin. In reality I chickened out as a good twist of the throttle would have straightened the bike but may have put me over the edge, and the water looked cold. (My English teacher would call this foreshadowing. I laid the bike down. We picked up the bike, had a good laugh and then discovered that the GPS was missing. Can you spot the Blue Magellan Explorist 300 GPS in this Pic?

How about now?

Yep that's it, still functioning under 4 feet of very cold water. The snow line was only a few hundred meters above us and the water in the creek was snow about 10 minutes before it got to the bridge. The water was so clear that we could see that it was unable to find a satellite due to the water over it.

So in answer to my initial question, How does a real Canadian spend Thanksgiving? He stands in his underwear, knee deep in frezzing cold water, fishing for GPSs.

The GPS still works, however I am looking at a Garmin model now. They float.

Stay tuned for more stories and pics from Thanksgiving and our adventures in England. Emily wants to see the Queen tomorrow.

Cheers
Bryan
