High Noon At The Tropic

My last day in Antofagasta, I decided to stop at the Monument to Mark The Southern Tropic. Being a little daft, I thought that since it was close to March 21, there would be no shadow, or at least very little. The monumnet is just a few meters north of the turn off to the airport.
I was surprised to see a fairly significant shadow. I was also a little past High Noon. It wasn't until I was on an airplane that I realized I needed to be standing on the equator on March 21. December 21 is when I should have been in Anto - Duh!
I was a little handicapped taking these pictures, as I dropped my camera in a pool of diesel fuel, and the display doesn't work any more. Pablo suggested putting the camera in water, so the diesel fuel would float out. Maybe I should have, as my laptop case really smells bad now.
I may have a new eating place in Anto, to rival Empanada Florencia for my fast food dollars. Sanguchon
The burger pictured on the sign is also on the top of the menu. I asked for the burger in the picture. - They don't make it, it is just a picture. They do make awesome sandwiches and good personal sized burgers though.
Here Pablo contemplates dinner.
Don Karl always gets a few of my dollars for his Ham shoulder. mmmmmmmm
Macarena tried the lamb and gave it a thumbs up.
Cheers
