Nakusp Music Festival Friday Night
Tuesday, August 3, 2010 6:16:42 AM
As alluded to in my previous post we were back at the Nakusp Mucis Festival for our second year running. I think it was Stacy who said, early on in the weekend, "It is not really about the music, it is more about meeting up with good friends and hanging out for the weekend." And that is once again how the weekend played out.
And once again Rocky and Rory's yard looked like a car lot.
and we filled the garage.
Stacy also said something about "life is better with a corn dog"
and one other bit of advice
We eventually did get to see some great bands in a most spectacular setting.
Friday night started (well our Friday Night, post dirt bike ride started) with Powder Blues. Tom Lavin is still fronting the band, and they still sound as good as they did 30 years ago (oops, did I just date myself?) It was an all Canadian Night, so next up was Darby Mills and the Headpins. Alas Brian "Too Loud" Macleod is no longer with us, but Darby can still kick some serious Rock and Roll Butt. Founding members Ab Bryant and Bernie Aubin are still with the band, while Tony Dellacroce and Alfie Galpin team up to replace Brian.
Although Kim and I did not meet up with Darby, some of the others ran into her, and report she was extremely pleasant and friendly.
Last up was 54-40. Neil and his band put on a very tight show covering so many of their Canadian Hits. One often forgets how many hits Neil is responsible for. I miss Phil as a band member though.
Cheers

The corn dog looks good but things like that have high impact on my stomach now. Soon I'll be entering my yogurt/cling peaches/applesauce years.
