It's Thursday afternoon, close to the end of the second round of today's competition movies. In about an hour, people will be able to view the RE-IMAGINED... program and I'm excited and hopeful for some interesting reactions.
Yesterday was the (way to official) opening of the festival. There was a full, young Korean crowd in attendance and according to a pre-arranged plan, the national broadcaster KBS taped the event with a broadcast crew. After a torrent of speeches, that seemed longer than they probably were due to the language divide, the crowd was treated to 25min sampling recent of award-winning shorts that will be featured in the full program Friday, 4/27. Two of the shorts to be seen were the outstanding "Rabbit" by Run Wrake and "0.08" by Johan Kramer. Both films stand out as real attention grabbers and hold one's interest with fascinating visuals and mind-bending storytelling.
