RE-IMAGINED is overjoyed to be able to include Furnacemedia's GAME:ON in the special program. The short, made as a promotion for Volvo, has it all: good production values, real actors acting, an indie sensibility and an eye-opening hybrid approach to envisioning the Video Game/Real Life dichotomy.

Artist: Paul Robertson

, , ,

Paul Robertson creates amazing and intricate filmic scenarios that are put together in the manner of a side-scrolling console/video game. They aren't games actually, but rather videos of his animation style that draw s heavily on a shared culture of an 8-bit aesthetic. If you are either a) old enough to remember games from the 1980's or b) familiar (and maybe still playing) Nintendo's Pokeman or any number of knockoffs, you should feel excitedly at home with his approach. Further, if you can recall a sense of amazement about how artists could create vibrant universes with such a limited palate , expect a deja-vue of that feeling when you see Paul's stuff.

Paul will be contributing "Do the Whirlwind" to "RE-IMAGINED: VIDEO GAMES AS CULTURE"
