RE-IMAGINED: VIDEO GAMES AS CULTURE.

Examining the influence of the 3rd generation of video games on RL (real life)

Now we're talking...the REAL Poster and some of the local catalog ad copy for the special program

Here's the (too) long copy I wrote to describe the RE-IMAGINED program. I later shortened it somewhat.

In case you thought things on this planet weren’t confusing enough for you… wait until human culture blends with a Video Games aesthetic, immersive 3D environments and massive, multi-point interaction altering forever what used to be called Real Life or “RL” (oh, boy). To preview a future, to experience the collision of talk shows in cyberspace, virtual violence in everyday settings, and to understand how both the US Army and anti-war protesters are using Video Games as persuasive tools, come watch RE-IMAGINED: VIDEO GAMES AS CULTURE, a special program at the BUDI International Student Film & Video festival.
This one-time, special screening, featuring media creators from around the globe, is based on the idea that, as a global cultural community, we are well into are 3rd decade of interacting with, manipulating and being influenced by video and computer games. How will these visuals, interactions and environments shape our perception of “reality”?
Established over decades as a strong mainstream cultural form Video Games are here to change perceptions...for better or worst depending on who you talk to (and their age).
Ranging from the critical to the playful, the philosophical to the non-nonsensical, the common theme of RE-IMAGINED is the formulation of a position to our increasingly virtual reality. Embark on a visual discovery of artistic brilliance or to provocatively darker forecasts about our collective adventure into inner space.
On April 26th, 2007 @ Kyungsung Concert Hall RE-IMAGINED: VIDEO GAMES AS CULTURE will host video, film and digital motion creations that deal overtly and directly with the cultural juggernaut of video/computer game play.

Also, I wanted to upload the final version of the poster... it's very close to the draft as you can see if you compare the two by scrolling down. One thing that is different is that we now have a tag line for the special program. As the font is a bit small (jeez, no kidding, eh?) I pulled a small section for your viewing pleasure. TTYL, Misha

BUDI 2007 Video and Film festival Poster (RL -> Real Life thing...)

Don't know why I didn't put the BUDI poster in here long ago (this prototype was finished months ago) , but better now than never. The actual and current poster is very similar in design but features other print info (not that you could tell at this resolution . p:

I'll upload the final version asap.
