WOW(TM) XII

, ,

One of the founding members of the church and our resident epicure, this WOW is overdue.

Not only has he taught that not all problems are bad - apart from unauthorised deck canoodlers - he has also coined (and copyrighted :D) such memorable terms as sneepTM and FehTM.

So if you're looking for a menu idea, some fashion pointers, gardening advice, a beautiful photo to brighten your day, or a posting that will make you smile - or think - or both. You can count on Brother hungryghost

Extreme WOW

Busy week at the church but we musn't forget to honor our Walker of the Week!

Walky's eyes were opened wide :eyes: when he visited Brother Ramunas' blog . This young man takes walking to a whole new level. Is it even walking? Well, I guess it could be called extreme walking. Ramunas participates in le Parkour a "sport" of French origin in which the participant attempts to pass obstacles in the fastest and most direct manner possible, using skills such as jumping, vaulting, climbing and other moves. (These catlike moves really impressed Walky's assistant :cat:)

So, if anytime this week, you are feeling like you just can't get off the couch and go for a little stroll...just think of our ambitious brother in Lithuania. The least you can do is go for a walk around the block and take some autumn pictures! :D

Congratulations Ramunas and...be careful!

Oh...and check out his photos !

As many members may know, Walky's decision on the "Walker of the Week" comes in a vision and this vision is often influenced by a cat.

This week , the cat spoketh , "You mush choozsh dish wady, she'z weally weally nishe, she wikes me a wot, an' I know she walkz a lot too...Her name ish Elke."

So be it. :wizard:

So lets all give a hearty WOOHOO :hat: for our 10th WOW , Sister Elke , flower photographer, artist, walker, hiker extraordinaire and cat lover.

Last week Elke completed a huge mountain hike and this week she is battling the flu. :frown: Let's all pray for a speedy recovery so she may get out there walking again to enjoy the rest of the lovely autumn weather.

This Sister is the inspiration behind the creation of this church and she’s an active member in the congregation (Sometimes she even does some cleaning tasks! p: )

She told us many walking stories and among the famous ones is the ascent of The Grind. in 1:10
Although she has recently moved and despite her busy schedule, she already began to walk us around her new a city.

So in Walky’s demand, let's all praise our new Walker of the Week,

the Singing Sister,

Sister San! :hat:

As Lola would add: PRRMEEEOWW! :cat:

This Lady Has been out walking the forest preserve in her local area, between what sounds like some awful weather. Dodging snakes and taking photos as she goes.

She is always an enthusiastic commentator on blogs around the congregation and so full of questions

Indisputably the northernmost brother of the congregation, this Santa Claus neighbour lives in an austere but magnificent walking paradise.

Always in top shape, this member can easily make a 8 hours hike the day after a night of partying! :drunk:

Some gossipers would say that he rather slide than walk but beware, his snowboard is Walky approved!

He is known as a good guy all over the Opera Community and now he is the proud of our church.

Let’s cheer for Duplo our new Walker of the week!

Walker of the Week VI

This week Walky has been watching members of the congregation very closely. There were a few shenanigans happening last week but once the smoke cleared it was very clear as to who should be the chosen one. Let us bow our heads for Brother Allan WOW VI.

This member, an artist and social activist has written a lovely psalm for us all to commit to memory and recite at our next service.

And gaze upon this incredible photograph he has taken. It brought a tear to Walky's eye to see so many celebrating the gift of walking. :wizard:

Here is an excerpt from Brother Allan's poem ...

I am a walker.

I walk the hills
I walk the woods
I walk the beach
But most of all
I walk in the city.

I am a walker
- then, at least, I am something.

But I am more than that...

Yes Mr. Ricewood, you are much more than that! And not a weirdo at all!

Dear Brothers and Sisters, I had a dream. And in that dream Walky came to me in the shape of a cat and he said: “GO TAKE A WALK AND DURING THIS WALK, THE WALKING OF THE WEEK WILL BE REVEAL TO YOU.” :eyes:

I don’t want to annoy Walky :troll: so I took the walk and when I reached the 5th Km, suddenly it all became clear :

This woman did not climb any glaciers or mountains recently, she's not renowned for walking many miles each day but the journey she went through in the past few months worth any walking marathons and instead of tumbling over all the obstacles she met, she kept her head high and overcome all those difficulties. She’s an example of optimism and perseverance for the congregation and she even proudly wears her Sister's title outside the church!

So to every Brothers and Sisters, it’s time to congratulate our Sister Spooksister our newest walker of the week.

Way to go Sister!

Walkie and his/her advisor :cat: have yet again blessed us with a very deserving WOW. Here are some excerpts from this very avid walker's posts. Can you guess who it is?

...Again today I walked and walked and walked and took some photos too.

...I walk through Wall Street...

...I don't know many miles I've walked, again today, and I don't know how many miles I've walked on this trip so far. I should have bought a pedometer.

...First, I had to stop my visit because I could not stand on my feet anymore. After two days of extreme walking on concrete, I've reached my limit. (I think I prefer hiking Mt-Washington, it's easier on the feet than concrete!)

...and begin walk south.

...I don't know how many miles I walked today but tonight my feet hurt. It's really a walking vacation, the way I like it. In fact, it's the only thing I did today walking and taking some photos.

...This morning I went to Cambridge and walk on the Harvard University Campus. With this heat, it felt good walking on the lawn under the big trees.

...After my meal I went walking

...Wow! My legs are burned. After my yesterday's hike and my today's walk in Downtown Boston, I'm glad to be in a motel room on a cosy bed with A/C.

...it was a demanding walk but it went well.

You think this member of our congregation is trying to tell us something? Brother Louis, looks like you went on a walking crusade for all of us! Are you vying for sainthood?

Let us bow our heads for our new Walker of the Week, and let his words inspire us all. Praise be and walk on and on and on.
:hat:
