Ashford Castle Grounds

Ashford castle I was there on friday.
5 euro per adult but it does get you a map of the area.
Lake, bridge, castle, woods, gardens, ruined abby, Golf (if you like that sort of thing), School of falconry (was not open when I was there " gone Hawking")

If you had the time and the energy you could spent all day there.

In Salmon Arm where I used to live there is this bird sanctuary along the foreshore. The trail is about 8 km return trip. There are walkways and bridges that go over swampy areas as well. It's a great place to go walking and gasp, running. I usually don't think about anything when I walk there, only keep my ears alert for new bird songs.

Homer: Doh!

I've been in that neck of the woods before, but missed the castle.

Did see Kylemore Abbey - absolutely stunning

and

The Quiet Man Cottage Museum - slight rip-off, but a bit of craic

Ive been to kylemore a few times, if you continue down the road they have a victorian walled garden.
The Quiet Man House is within the grounds of the castle

I saw the garden when I was in Kylemore, it was very impressive.

That house, was it the Danaher home in the movie?

I couldn't tell you, I`ve never see the movie.
But when I consult my map it tells me - Location of Squire Danahers house used during the filming of The Quiet Man - 1951
