Ashford Castle Grounds
Ashford castle I was there on friday.5 euro per adult but it does get you a map of the area.
Lake, bridge, castle, woods, gardens, ruined abby, Golf (if you like that sort of thing), School of falconry (was not open when I was there " gone Hawking"
If you had the time and the energy you could spent all day there.

In Salmon Arm where I used to live there is this bird sanctuary along the foreshore. The trail is about 8 km return trip. There are walkways and bridges that go over swampy areas as well. It's a great place to go walking and gasp, running. I usually don't think about anything when I walk there, only keep my ears alert for new bird songs.

More pictures from Ashford Castle. With more to come.
I should probably mention where it is.

I've been in that neck of the woods before, but missed the castle.
Did see Kylemore Abbey - absolutely stunning
and
The Quiet Man Cottage Museum - slight rip-off, but a bit of craic
