Meet Your Team: Two Friends from Uzbekistan

This week meet two friends from Uzbekistan who joined the Opera Campus Crew together in its very first week. Sardorbek and Sanjar and both study business computing at Westminster International University in Tashkent, and are the only members in the country! They are such good friends that Sardorbek jokingly described them as ‘brothers’ in one of his early emails (and, er, I believed him 
).
).
Why did they join the Campus Crew? Sardorbek put it simplest with “we want to make Opera popular among Uzbekistan internet users”. Sanjar said it is essential in a country where the speed of internet is very limited to let people know about faster browsers and mobile browsing. They also wanted to be active in the Opera community, as well as contribute to their university and local area.
Sanjar and Sardorbek are looking forward to helping their fellow students’ web usage become more productive and enjoyable. They are planning to organise some events, including workshops on effectively using Opera and its features. In fact, even before Sardorbek was a member, he talked about Opera in a lecture on information security. Working with Web standards and finding out student attitudes toward Opera and the Web is also a priority for them. Best of luck, guys!
Both Sardorbek and Sanjar are very much into IT in their hobbies as well. Sardorbek’s interests are Linux, open source software and web applications. He is a Gold member of Anti-Malware.ru, and loves metal music. Sanjar is interested in information architecture, and is working on an Open Laboratory Project with a local Web development company. He is also interested in self-management, football, music and movies.
