Meet Your Team: Our Youngest Member

, , ,

The Opera Campus Crew has attracted to a true mix of people, from high school students to PhDs to professors, young and old alike! This week I’d like to introduce you to the youngest member of the Campus Crew. Jeremy is 14 years old, and attends Assumption High School in Singapore. When he registered to join, I actually contacted the Ministry of Manpower there to check if he was legally old enough to volunteer with a corporation. bigeyes

What does Jeremy think about being the Crew’s youngest member? “Happy! Being young is a start for a new revolution!” He says starting with the Campus Crew early on means he can have a longer experience with the program, as he still has many years of student life ahead of him bigsmile. (Jeremy is not sure yet what he will study at university, but most likely business, media or IT!) He has also been involved in community work with other student organisations.

Jeremy joined the Campus Crew because he is passionate about Opera. He has been using Opera for three or four years, and got started after the “weird O button” on his cousin’s computer got him curious p. He was soon hooked, and installed it into his own laptop and mobile, tried out all the betas, and used My Opera for his school’s blog. When asked what he thinks would be the major difference between being a Crew member at a high school vs university, he thought younger students would be more interested in the creative side of Opera (like making widgets) and technical gadgetry.

For his Campus Crew activities, Jeremy is speaking to the school’s IT department about holding a stand to introduce Opera and the debugging tool Dragonfly. He will speak to them about installing Opera once school resumes in January. Jeremy is also looking forward to working with the Opera Campus Crew members from other campuses in Singapore!

Welcome on board, Jeremy! We look forward to working with you for many a year to come!
