The First Day High! presentations were conducted right at the beginning of the school year, so the students will know how to use their browser, even before they officially lay their hands on the computers for their classes. First Day High! was a series of four presentations done in one day in all four year levels, with attendees totaling 180 students plus six teachers. The presentations were done by myself (Mindanao State University) and Xyrilloid (South East Asian Institute of Technology), and both of us are alumni of the high school. The presentations were fun because some of the students knew us, and it was definitely fun to discover things that they never thought they could do with a browser!
We taught them tips and tricks that would make their Opera experience even better, such as Speed Dial (which contains links provided by the school and synchronized with Opera Link), Mouse Gestures, Page Zoom, Notes, among others. We used Discover Opera as a guide in what to teach the students. Our very own experiences with Opera also testify to the power of the browser. Their school having been equipped with the world's powerful browser is something to thump their chests about! And to further their chest-thumping, they each received an Opera pen and two students per class received shirts as prizes on who learned the most in the presentations!
But it was the postal system's fault. Our posters were almost flattened when they arrived.
To wrap things up, we put up posters of the Desktop and Mini browsers, and of course, the Opera 10 Teaser Posters to let them know of more exciting things from Opera.

Augh, I'm so sorry to hear about the postal system letting us down. I'll put you guys down for the express post treatment next time, so that everything arrives undestroyed!
