Opera 10 World Series
By Zara. Wednesday, 15. July 2009, 10:20:05
We are counting down to Opera 10! A few weeks ago we emailed all members about how the Campus Crew can help mark this milestone release. Because some countries have long summer holidays of different lengths and we do not have the final release date, Opera 10 launch events on the same day throughout the world will not be possible. Rather than simultaneous events, we suggest an ‘Opera 10 World Series’! So far 22 campuses in 8 countries have signed up to participate, and we hope that more of you will join in. The World Series will be a series of Opera Days focusing on Opera 10, held by Crew members across the globe at times in their new semester that are most suitable for them and their campus. The Opera Day can include a presentation, Demo Day, interviews, quizzes, handing out flyers, unveiling the installation of Opera in computer labs, or all of the above – with a particular focus on showing Opera 10! We will make a special Opera 10 presentation slideset, quiz questions and posters/flyers to help you in your activities.

Setting the date for your Opera Day
As explained previously, we are not able to announce launch dates in advance, simply because when developing software last-minute changes can arise that delay the release. However, we understand that some of you need approval from your campus up to a month in advance before you can hold an event. If that is the case, you can either wait until the final launch date before you approach your campus to approve a date, or you can set a date in advance but be ready to present on the beta version if the final has not been released.
For this reason, we will try to make the slideset posters and quiz questions available before the final launch, so that you still have resources for your events with beta versions.
Want to organise an activity as part of the Opera 10 World Series? Email me about which activity/ies you want to organise and approximately when you would want to hold it. We will include the names of each participating campus in the Opera 10 presentation slideset!
