Opera Campus Crew Blog

Spread the word about Opera and Web standards on your campus!

Thank You to Our Most Active Campus Crew Members!

, , ,

Opera Software would like to say a giant "THANK YOU!" to the Campus Crew members who have been most active this semester. Your outstanding efforts to spread the word about Opera and Web standards on campus are hugely appreciated and admired, and we wish to present you with tokens of our appreci-ation. Last semester we gave thank you gifts to almost 50 members, and this time we are excited to see that number double to almost 100! :hat:

This semester we introduce Gold, Silver and Bronze active membership levels – this has been at the request of several Campus Crew members, and it helps us recognise those members who have put in an extra special effort this semester. Gold, Silver and Bronze members will all receive a certificate and an Opera hooded sweater! Silver-level members will also receive an Opera cap, and our three Gold-level members – who gave a truly outstanding effort this semester – will receive a sweater, cap and a mobile phone! (Which can run Opera Mini, of course!) We give this special Gold-level prize this semester to recognise a few members who have truly gone above and beyond the call of duty.

These members have completed and reported activities with two or more stars for effort-level in the Get Started Guide or a combination of one-star activities. Because we give out thank you gifts each semester, this round covers activity from January 1 to June 30.

Drumroll…

Gold
• Risanto Darmawan - Krisnadwipayana University (Indonesia)
• Alexis Chua - Mindanao State University-General Santos City (Philippines)
• Xyrilloid Landicho - South East Asian Institute of Technology (Philippines)

Risanto has co-organised and/or spoken at 7 Opera presentations and a Demo Day at his own and other campuses, and has helped Opera Software staff visiting Indonesia on four occasions for university seminars and trade exhibitions. He met with Campus Crew leaders at a new campus in Indonesia to give them advice on setting things up, and has been active in recruiting new members. He also administers the Opera Campus Crew Indonesia blog, and has been very active in contributing to our online community. Risanto, we cannot thank you enough for your amazing efforts!

Alexis and Xyrilloid have worked together across campuses on all their activities. They have organised six Opera presentations, including four presentations in one day to the computer classes at their old high school. Alexis and Xyrilloid also installed Opera in computer labs, distributed Opera Mini comics around the campus, and approached teachers about incorporating Web standards into their classes. They have both been very active in contributing to the Crew’s online community, with regular blog/forum posts and participation in our brainstorming chats. What a tremendous job!

The Semester Ahead
This has been our first whole semester of Campus Crew activity after we began the program in October, and it has been great to see an increase since last semester in the number of members we recognise as most active. In the semester ahead we hope to see activity increase again, so it will be tougher to select the most active members as the stakes get higher! It may well be that you need to run two events rather than just one to gain Bronze-level status.

Thank you again to everyone who was involved in these activities, and all members of our amazing Opera Campus Crew for their contributions! We look forward to the semester ahead!
