Introducing Opera to Freshers

,

Hello friends, today i am posting my last activity as a member of Opera Campus Crew. (Miss the tag of being an OCC sad )
Anyways, there is a lot more to be done wink I held this event at the common room at my hostel and invited the freshers that had little experience on Web and Opera browser. I initially asked them about their experience on browsers and which browser they use. Most them replied with the old IE and Mozilla Browsers. Hence this was a plus point for me as i can mold them towards Opera Browsers by having an overview of features that Opera uses in comparison with other browsers available in the market.

It all began with a introduction session and a presentation session in which my juniors actively participated. You can find some of the pictures of the event below. I used the swag sent out to me by Anna Ma'am. (Thanks to her for always supporting my events smile )

The crowd was just awesome as i received a good response. More than 80 students were gathered. some of them were even from different faculties. It was really a nice experience. smile

I met administrator of that cafe, named Mr. Manoj, And started to explain about the Opera browser. He was much bothered about the new features and memory eating of the new browser.

He was very much exited and like the new interface and features of Opera after installation.

Opera Education moving to new heights!

Greetings, Campus Crew and other Opera supporters. We wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about a bold new move Opera is taking with regards to its community evangelism, education and university programs. We are reshaping the current university and education efforts, refocusing our energy into two new areas, which are described below. We want you to use your precious time as productively as possible, so if you are currently a Campus Crew member and want to remain active doing Opera and web education outreach, we are advising you to think about where your passions lie and sign up for one of the following groups!

Taking Opera to the streets!

We are moving our community Opera evangelism work into the Opera Street Team, which is a passionate group of Opera ambassadors aiming to promote Opera and its products throughout the world! If you are proud of your favorite red O browser, take that pride and passion further, and help us to spread the word. This program is open to Opera fans on campuses and beyond, which means that you'll be able to stay involved even after you leave university! It will be a place for you to keep up with what's happening at Opera and meet other members who are (hopefully) just as passionate about Opera and web technology as you are. The Opera Street Team is going to focus on online activities to make it as easy as possible for those of you who want to get active, but you're also free to just hang around, comment on articles, maybe meet some new people. There is no application process, all you have do is register!

Join the Opera Street Team here! (Just visit the site and click on "Join this group".)

Web Education in the W3C

The W3C has a new Web Education Community Group initiative, which has many aims including producing a world wide standard for teaching web design and development, and doing outreach to universities, schools and other educators/trainers to get this standard adopted as widely as possible in their curricula. The group is being co-chaired by Opera web evangelist Chris Mills. If you are excited by improving open standards education worldwide, for example on your campus or in your local community then find out more about the Web Education Community Group. This is a huge group featuring representatives from many different organizations - get involved, and make a difference now!

These two programs are going to replace the Campus Crew program. We hope you'll enjoy being part of this new outreach movement! Feel free to join both groups, if you like yes

Campus Party 2011

, ,

Dear OCC fellows this time I'm going relate one of my best experience as Campus Crew member and in my life. happy

On from 18 to 24 July one of the biggest events about technology in the world took place in México, it is Campus Party and that is a brief introduction about it:

Campus Party is recognized as the largest formative technology event, creativity, digital culture and entertainment network in the world. This annual event started in Spain in 1997 and since 2009 takes place in Mexico, meets for one week thousands of participants with their computers from all over Mexico and other nations to share concerns, exchange experiences, to attend conferences, workshops, competitions and exhibitions related to computers, internet, communications and new technologies.

And for the third edition of this event Opera Software participated as a sponsor, supporting the distribution of promotional items, a really big stand and the conference of our charismatic Chief Standards Officer Charles McCathieNevile knight

During the event there were many conferences, workshops, contests, games and activities related to the adoption of technology.

Attended by professionals from all areas of technology, not only in Mexico if not worldwide. For example we were fortunate with the presence of the father of the Web Tim Berners Lee (friend indeed Chaals bigsmile ).

My participation in this event I owe to Opera, because I was invited to join his team during the time that remained for the Opera stand.

So I supported in everything possible to the Opera team, for example explaining how to use Opera to the people who came to ask, I could show people how to use it on different platforms such as smartphones, tablets and computers.I also helped to Zoe at conducting competitions/challenges for the attendees had the chance to win cool Opera stuff and of course I went with the mission to make known Opera Education and Opera Campus Crew .

I attended all kinds of people, from children, youth, adults, seniors to people with disabilities. This really motivated me to continue learning more about Opera and get closer to users

During the five days I supported the staff was fortunate that I was invited to dinner with them, so you'll enjoy the days together, it was quite an experience.I had never eaten so much in my life!
