After a snappy installation of Opera 10.10 on all computers in the computer labs of Green Valley College Foundation, Inc. in Koronadal City, the Philippines, and each unit proudly bearing a "There's an Opera in here" sticker, the Opera Campus Crew in the Philippines had a really fun Opera 10 World Series event - the first one in the campus. We had two sessions for today, one in the morning, and the other one in the afternoon. The first session was attended by more than 60 students, while the second session was attended by around 120 students, plus three college instructors/lab administrators.
Based on past experiences with presentations in other schools, the two presentations today were the best, so far, as we can feel the excitement in the air as the students get to experience an unfamiliar, yet a spectacular browser. The experience was particularly better since everyone had the chance to explore the browser for themselves.
We around an hour late since the administrators still had to set-up the computer and the screen that will be used in the presentations, since we did not have a laptop to use. And we almost shouted our lungs out while speaking since their sound system is in use in another event.
Kicking off each presentation is George Lemuel talking about Opera Software and its products. Next off is my talk on Opera Education and Opera Campus Crew, followed by a talk on Web Standards and how it is important in our daily lives in cyberspace. After the talk, we had the Opera 10 hands-on demonstration, with Xyrilloid facilitating, and using NetSupport School to better demonstrate the cool features of Opera 10.
As we watched the audience watch the demonstration, we observed that the features that had the most 'ooohs' and 'ahhs' are: Mouse Gestures, Quick Search, and Opera Turbo. In between topics, we had trivia questions to beat sleepiness out from some, of course with Opera swag for the ones with the correct answers.
After the second session, we had a chance to talk to the lab administrators and show them more of the great features of Opera. One that really caught their attention is Opera Unite! One instructor said he will give us a ring when he wants demonstrations for ALL OTHER students of the college, since we only spoke to students with computer-related courses!

It's also great to know that he will disable IE and Firefox for Opera to the college's EXCLUSIVE browser!

He was also happy to inform us that he has installed Opera in the internet cafe that he owns, after experiencing Opera 10.10 that we have installed in the computer labs yesterday.
We are looking forward to having more demonstrations in Green Valley College and, possibly, more computers to install Opera in! And also, with the enthusiasm seen from the audience today, we think that the 20 Opera Campus Crew slots for Green Valley College will be filled in no time!
